Are Muslims allowed to keep pigs as pets?

No you are not allowed to keep dogs or pigs as pets (reasons you mentioned) But you are allowed to keep a dog if you live in a dangerous neighborhood or on a farm for protection but you are not allowed to keep them inside the house.
