Are white baseboards too trendy?

The majority of the house has no baseboards and I am looking to install some. I like the look of white baseboards but I think it might date the home as I am not looking to sell for many years. Im thinking light oak but would like advice. All the doors are wood but can be replaced easily so they are not important. No wood floors, laminate tile and carpet. I don't want my baseboards to scream '2009' to any home buyers down the road the way that shag carpet screams 1960's and 70's.
