Can a cold trigger your period?

I had my period less than two weeks ago and I came down with a cold four days ago. Last night I started bleeding like I was having my period, but I just had it. I'm not bleeding heavily, it's just spotty. Is it true that colds can trigger a period or should I be looking for my doctor?
