Is it actually news when there is violence in the Gaza strip?

I don't remember a time in my life when there wasn't violence or problems in the Gaza strip. Sometimes there's more. Sometimes there's less but the only certainty is that it is always there. So when there are problems in the Gaza strip, does it actually qualify as "news"?
